1976
Dalia Colli was born in 1976 in Livorno, a maritime city in Tuscany, Italy. From an early age his hobbies were drawing, cutting, painting, modeling and all the activities that involved the use of hands and the realization of an artistic project, immediately demonstrating a marked dexterity. The mother used to say that she never stopped creating and whistling. Only now can we say that his childhood games would have anticipated the path of his career. At this moment, intact, he will probably still be whistling while working in his laboratory in Livorno.
1990
As a child she suffered from asthma, so he discovered the quiet paths of music and art. He studied piano at the Pietro Mascagni Conservatory of Music in Livorno and attended the Liceo Sperimentale Arte e Scienza F. Cecioni in Livorno. Here he starts to get passionate about the History of Art, studying the ancient decorative techniques such as the Mural, the special gold leaf gilding, the different pictorial techniques to discover the Airbrush Tech, those same techniques he usually uses today for his work: “The difference lies only in the support: a canvas, a body or a face… however pure love.”
2000
After high school he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence during which he approached the magical world of cinema, thus maturing the idea of moving to the academy in Rome, where he also earned a master’s degree in Decoration and Direction. He graduated with a thesis on the genre Horror/Noir, making the script, the storyboard, and shooting a short film noir with a simple dump of the VHS camera, getting some recognition.
2002
After graduating in 2002, she began working in a newborn Special Make-Up Workshop in Rome, thus starting her career as a mold maker, sculptures, models, studying the chemical characteristics of different materials and new trends in the field of make-up and special effects.
2005
Dalia Colli has always been in love with Cinema, growing up with the films of major Italian authors such as Fellini, De Sica, Pasolini, Monicelli, Olmi, Bellocchio, but at the same time, she begins to love foreign commercial films such as E.T. The extraterrestrial, The Goonies, Back to the Future, Star Wars. He soon understood that he wanted to be part of that company of dreamers that gave life to the current film industry.
At the beginning, Dalia Colli was occasionally assistant to Vittorio Sodano (Makeup artist for Apocalypto) and after three years in Lab, she met Alessandro Bertolazzi (Oscar 2017 best Makeup for Suicide Squad), working with him from 2005 to 2007. Dalia Colli begins to travel working on the various sets scattered around the world, meeting people and confronting different cultures that enrich her artistic personality.
His first experience with an American director was on the set of “Angels and Demon”, directed by Ron Howard. Still assistant has a lot of fun working with a great professional but at the same time kind and ironic that will never forget.
2007
In 2007 she signed the extraordinary Gomorrah, the film by Matteo Garrone, based on the novel by Roberto Saviano and with him began a long collaboration. The film tells of the war between Camorra gangs, the organized underworld of Campania, which for decades has been the hotbed of one of the most American criminal organizations in the West.
2012
After the filming of Gomorrah, Dalia Colli continues the collaboration with Matteo Garrone and, thanks to him and his introspective and dark films, sweet and poetic, realistic and fairy-tale, conquers the important Italian award David di Donatello for the film Reality, in 2012.
At that time she becomes the mother of a child, but she equips herself with a camper so as not to give up her job.
2014
In 2014 she had the honor of meeting and working with directors such as Ermanno Olmi (L’Albero degli Zoccoli) for his latest film “The meadows will return”. The film is shot in the Italian Alps, in the theater of the fighting of the First World War. This experience made her aware of the horror experienced by those young soldiers tormented by extreme cold, snow, hunger and death.
2018
She faces a job that has some adventure, participating in the filming of “The Traitor”, a film on the theme of the mafia and repentants, directed by Marco Bellocchio and starring Pierfrancesco Favino, going to Rio de Janeiro, Cologne and Rome.
